The increased production of traditional grains in Matabeleland North province is expected to boost harvest this year, after most farmers embraced growing drought resistant crops.
Acting Provincial director for Bulawayo and Matabeleland Morth Provinces, in the department of Agricultural Technical and Extension Services (Agritex) Dumisani Nyoni said controlling quelea birds remains a challenge.
Matabeleland Provinces receive below average rainfall, which is not conducive for maize production.
