Government says schools will remain open despite recording positive cases of Covid-19 in some learning institutions, saying confirmed infections do not warrant suspension of lessons as the situation is under control.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said this at a post-cabinet media briefing in Harare today.
Minister Mutsvangwa added that government has instituted the following measures, to curb a further spread of the virus in schools:
*Enhancement of public health and social protocols, including social distancing, hand washing, sanitization and wearing of facemasks
*Enhancement of awareness campaign in schools and surrounding communities
*Vaccination of eligible population in schools and surrounding communities
*Enhancement of surveillance and contact tracing at schools and the surrounding communities
*Increasing on-site Covid-19 testing of all suspected cases, contacts and communities
*Isolation and management of all Covid-19 positive cases
*Quarantining of those exposed
*Restriction of movement into and out of the affected schools until the outbreaks have been controlled.
