Foreign Affairs and International Trade deputy minister David Musabayana says relations between Zimbabwe and Kuwait should be upgraded to joint permanent commission status to allow for increased trade between the two countries.

Addressing guests and diplomats at the 62nd Kuwait national day in Harare yesterday, the Deputy Minister said bilateral and political relations with Kuwait remain strong but more cooperation in investment and culture is required.

Kuwait ambassador to Zimbabwe Salem Shibeeb Ahmad Alkhaledi said his country through the Kuwait fund for Arab economic development is supporting infrastructure projects in Zimbabwe.

Kuwait has funded the Zhove irrigation project to the tune of 20 million US dollars and 41 million US dollars for design and tender documents for two district hospitals in Harare among other projects.
