Tobacco farmers have reiterated a call to government to increase support to promote value addition to the crop for enhanced profitability, and improved livelihood in line with aspirations of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

In an interview with Zimpapers Radio News, Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union, President Dr Shadreck Makumbe, and Zimbabwe Tobacco Growers Association, secretary general Mutandwa Mutasa said efforts from tobacco farmers should be beneficial to the country.

Government has come up with a tobacco value chain transformation plan, which seeks to increase the level of processing the crop.
