National Covid-19 Taskforce Chief Coordinator Dr Agnes Mahomva says Zimbabwe is prepared to deal with a 4th Covid-19 wave, following the detection of a new variant in neighboring South Africa and Botswana.
Dr Mahomva however underscored the need for citizens to get vaccinated for the country to achieve herd immunity.
According to scientists in South Africa, the new variant has multiple mutations and has since been detected in Botswana and Hong Kong among travelers from SA.
Meanwhile, South African International Relations Minister, Naledi Pandor says the UK's decision to place the country back on its red list, is rushed.
Pandor said Government will engage the UK authorities to reverse the decision saying the travel ban, will damage the local tourism industry.
