More than 3,300 flights were cancelled around the world, more than half of them were US flights.

This said to have added to the toll of holiday week travel disruptions, due to adverse weather, and the surge in coronavirus cases, attributed to the Omicron variant. 

According to a running tally on the tracking website flightaware.com, those delayed but not cancelled, are more than 4,800 flights in total.
