Justice Minister attends UN Human Rights Council Periodic Review

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi says Zimbabwe values the United Nations Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review Process in order to enhance the protection of human rights. 

Speaking during a Peer Review session held in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday, Minister Ziyambi said Zimbabwe has taken note of all recommendations made during the review. 

Questioned on why Zimbabwe had postponed by elections, Minister Ziyambi said Government had prioritised life over voting.

The preliminary report on Zimbabwe’s Assessment will be adopted on Friday, January 28. the un human rights council reviews are based on information provided by the Government and independent human rights experts and groups, human rights treaty bodies and other UN entities. information provided by other stakeholders, including national human rights institutions, regional organisations and civil society groups, is also used for review.
