Preparations for schools opening intensified

The Ministries of Health and Child Care and that of Primary and Secondary Education, are working together in the implementation of standard operating procedures, as they prepare for the re-opening of schools for physical learning. 

This comes as a pronouncement is expected today, on the status of the level two lockdown, and on the education sector. 

Acting President Constantino Chiwenga, extended the lockdown a fortnight ago, saying, a week's notice would be given, of any schools opening, for necessary measures to be in place.  

Acting Health and Child Care Minister Amon Murwira said the ministries are working to ensure the safest possible learning environment, as soon as a greenlight is given, for schools to reopen. 

Meanwhile, Primary and Secondary Education Ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said efforts are being made to repair damages caused by Tropical Storm Ana on some schools.
