The first e-passports to be issued by Zimbabwe are out with people who made the applications from the 20th of January collecting their documents at the Civil Registry in Harare today ( Wednesday).
Speaking to Star FM News, one of the applicants who is a local Journalist Lovejoy Mtongwiza said the process of applying for the e-passport is smoother now with no middlemen involved and payment done at a Bank situated in the same building.
Mtongwiza who applied for the 7 day passport said the Civil Registry whilst it had experienced teething problems is now able to process close to 500 applications per day.
The 7 day passport costs USD$120 whilst the 3 day one is pegged at USD$200
