President Mnangagwa is set to preside over the signing of Performance Contracts for senior Public Officials for the year 2022 at the Harare International Conference Centre.
Cabinet Ministers and heads of Public Institutions will today sign Performance Contracts as Government seeks to create a high-performance culture among office bearers to enhance accountability and good governance.
This is in line with the dictates of the National Development Strategy 1, the blueprint driving the country to an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
21 Permanent Secretaries were the first to sign the Performance Contracts in 2021.
A performance contract is an agreement between Government and public officials to establish general goals during the tenure of their service.
It sets targets for measuring performance and provides incentives for achieving such targets.
The use of performance contracts is viewed as an effective and promising means of improving the performance of public enterprises as well as Government departments.
