African and European leaders on Thursday agreed that both continents, which once had a servant-master relationship during the colonial era, should now work together as equals.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is part of the African leaders in Brussels, Belgium demanding equal treatment from the EU member states.

In his speech at the summit, Chairperson of the African Union and Senegalese President Macky Sall demanded the return of African artifacts looted during the colonial era and the need to forge new relations based on mutual trust.

this comes as Zimbabwe is seeking to use the summit to push for the removal of sanctions imposed on the country by the European union and it's allies.

EU Council President, Charles Michel conceded that there is need to chart a new path.

Meanwhile, a declaration on a joint vision for 2030 is expected to be adopted by delegates today(Friday).
