The late Major General Shadreck Chiramba (Retired) has been declared a national hero. The announcement was made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Chiramba family home in Harare on Thursday.

The late military commander, a veteran of the liberation struggle died of covid-19-related complications, on Sunday at Parirenyatwa Hospital. He is survived by wife Beatrice, eight children and fourteen grandchildren
