Zimbabwe like other countries is witnessing an increase in cooking oil prices, as a result of rising in production costs globally, due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict, as the two nations, are major suppliers of sunflower oil.

The situation has seen the price of cooking oil rising from about $US 2,30 to above $US4 in recent days.

In an interview with Star FM News, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries President Kurai Matsheza said the price hike is due to an increase in crude oil prices around the world.

In the United Kingdom, a 20 litre drum of cooking oil which sold for 22 pounds in March is now pegged at 40 pounds.
