Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister , Dr Anxious Masuka has suspended the importation of live cloven-hoofed animals, and related products from South Africa following a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in the neighbouring country.
Such animals include cattle, sheep, goats, and deer.
In a statement, Dr Masuka advised stakeholders that all imports of cloven-hoofed animals, and their products from South Africa must not be allowed into Zimbabwe.
He added that the ministry through the department of veterinary services will continue to monitor the foot-and-mouth situation in South Africa.
The neighbouring country is battling an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, in free state, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, North West and Gauteng provinces.
