SADC female officers join hands in crimes against women

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has joined their Southern African countries in an operation code-named - Basadi - targeting crimes against women in the region. 

Addressing members of the public in Bulawayo, chairperson of ZRP Bulawayo Women`s Network, Chief Superintendent Lethiwe Mhandu urged communities to be aware and prevent crimes against women, adding that an average of five women are raped weekly with the perpetrators being individuals close to the affected.

The operation is being spearheaded by female police officers in the region following a spate of increase in crimes targeting women.
