A call has been made for stakeholders participating in the Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF) to have meaningful and fruitful discussions that are aimed at comprehensively improving the welfare of employees.

Speaking on Star FM's News and Current Affairs Programme, 'Muriro on Monday', Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) acting President, Valentine Chikosi said the the forum needs to discuss critical issues affecting employees.

He said the TNF should not be taken as a forum where stakeholders simply gather for unending discussions with no tangible outcomes to improve the welfare of workers.

Meanwhile, speaking during the same show, renowned economist Professor Gift Mugano urged relevant authorities to craft short term initiatives to counter the effects of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Professor Mugano said some of the short term interventions include ,removal of taxes on fuel, introduce subsidies on importation of maize, wheat and soya bean as well as make sure foreign currency is available on formal channels to avert further shocks from the parallel market.

The call comes at a time the cost of living has been escalating beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.
