Over 10 000 cases of influenza and common colds were recorded in one week with health experts attributing the development to current winter low temperatures being experienced countrywide.
According to a latest Ministry of Health and Child Care Weekly Disease Surveillance Report, most of the cases were reported in Manicaland and Mashonaland East provinces, which traditionally witness extreme low temperatures in winter.
The ministry advised citizens to remain alert as the winter season is synonymous with a spike in influenza, common colds and even Covid-19.
meanwhile, Government says it is strengthening Covid-19 response measures in Bulawayo following an increase in infections in the province over the past two weeks.
This was said by Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere, who was standing in for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa during a post Cabinet media briefing in Harare this Tuesday.
Minister Muswere added that research will be conducted to determine covid-19 national immunity levels.
