President leaves for Dos Santos funeral

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left Harare for Luanda where he will tomorrow join other leaders for a funeral service of former Angola leader Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

The funeral service is expected to precede the burial of the late former President in the capital Luanda later in the day.

Former President Dos Santos was Angola's second leader taking over from the late Agostinho Neto who died in 1979.

Former President Dos Santos led the Southern African nation until 2017 when he retired from Presidency and was succeeded by Peoples Movement for the Liberation of Angola party mate Joao Lourenco.

Dos Santos, died last month in Barcelona Spain.

He would have turned 80 tomorrow.

President Mnangagwa was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, cabinet ministers, service chiefs, and senior government officials.
