elephant tramples man to death

Two people were killed yesterday by an elephant in Gokwe, Midlands Province, in yet another case of human and wildlife conflict.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the tragedy to Zimpapers Radio News.

Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana have put forward a motion to the convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), for permission to trade ivory and elephants in an effort, to cut the numbers of these animals whose sales were banned in 1989.
