President Emmerson Mnangagwa has congratulated Zambian President-elect, Hakainde Hichilema following his victory in the just ended elections.

In a statement, President Mnangagwa said President-elect Hichilema's victory is testimony of the confidence that Zambians, have in his leadership to guide the country to a prosperous future.

President Mnangagwa pledged his support to the incoming leader and his readiness to cooperate in deepening cordial relations that already exist between Lusaka and Harare.

The President also promised to work closely with his Zambian counterpart at regional and international levels to advance ideals of development, peace and stability.

President-elect Hichilema garnered over 2,8 million of the votes beating incumbent Edgar Lungu, who polled about 1,8 million ballots.
